John Lucas/ Locus (1843-1926) and his wife Delphia Taylor Lucas (1850-1923) of Nash County, North Carolina, about 1900. Oral history of the family states that John, although of mixed race, could pass for white, and that Delphia was Indian. He was probably the son of Martin and Eliza Locus of Nash County. Delphia was the daughter Dempsey Taylor and his wife Louisa Pace.
John and Delphia Locus's daughter Dora Locus (upper right) and their grandchildren, children of their son Edward Locus and his wife Cora Locus.
